Three potato salad recalls have been posted on the web as of this morning. Super1Foods, Brookshire’s and Kroger have all issued recalls in relation to potato salads. While Kroger’s post referenced possible Listeria containation, the other two postings mentioned hard-cooked eggs, an ingredient in the potato salad, as the culprit in the potato salad recall but did not reference possible Listeria contamination.
The Kroger recall posting mentioned Deli County Potato Salad and Baker’s County Potato Salad (5 pound) and stores in Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes and Food4Less Fremont. Brookshire’s recalled Brookshire’s Brand 1 pound Souther Mustard Potato Salad, Deli Fresh Gourmet Mustard Potato Salad (3 pounds), and Brookshire’s 3 pound Southern Mustard Potato Salad. UPC Codes are 00092825145257, 00718129010038, and 00092825145219, respectively. Super1Foods recalled Deli Fresh Gourmet Mustard Potato Salad in 3 pound containers. Batch lot numbers are available on store website recall pages.
Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous form of foodborne illness which can potentially be fatal. Pregnant women who contract Listeria can suffer miscarriages and stillbirths after feeling like they have the flu.
